Field Insights from Cox’s Bazar: Advancing AI Solutions for Sustainable Shrimp Hatcheries

Published by AIquaBoost on

In September 2025, our CEO, Professor Alamgir Hossain, visited Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, to work directly with shrimp hatchery operators and the Shrimp Hatchery Association Bangladesh (SHAB). The visit marked a critical step toward aligning AiquaBoost with the real-world challenges faced by Bangladesh’s shrimp farming sector.

Listening to the Frontlines of Aquaculture

Over three intensive days, Professor Hossain met with hatchery owners, technicians, and association leaders to understand their current obstacles and discuss how AI-driven insights could mitigate them.
Operators shared pressing challenges, including recurring disease outbreaks such as luminous bacterial infections, rising mortality rates compared to previous years, and difficulties in maintaining optimal feeding practices due to variable environmental conditions.

Professor Hossain emphasized on the importance of co-operation to mitigate these challanges together during his meeting with SHAB members.

Tailoring AiquaBoost to Local Needs

AiquaBoost is designed to harness artificial intelligence and data-driven modeling to enhance hatchery performance through optimized feeding regimes, predictive water quality monitoring, and early warning systems for disease risks.

Insights from the Cox’s Bazar visit are now being directly integrated into AiquaBoost’s adaptive learning framework, ensuring the system reflects the unique biological and environmental conditions of Bangladeshi hatcheries. This human-centered approach will enable local hatchery operators to apply advanced AI tools that are practical, relevant, and effective in their day-to-day operations.

Accelerating Innovation Through the Second Pilot Study

Building on the success of AiquaBoost’s initial pilot phase, the second pilot study to formally begin in November 2025, expanding testing within selected shrimp hatcheries in Bangladesh.
This new phase focuses on validating the platform’s predictive models under diverse operational conditions, supporting hatchery managers in reducing larval mortality, improving feeding efficiency, and enhancing overall system sustainability.

Professor Hossain’s visit underscores a strong commitment to co-creation and local engagement — working hand-in-hand with aquaculture stakeholders to foster a resilient, data-smart shrimp industry for Bangladesh.

Toward a Sustainable Future for Shrimp Aquaculture

The Cox’s Bazar initiative is part of a broader effort to position AiquaBoost as a transformative digital ally for the global aquaculture community. By bridging advanced AI with field-level experience, this initiative continues to push the boundaries of innovation — promoting sustainability, efficiency, and equitable growth across emerging aquaculture economies.
